Now in English:
At Southampton Solent University the art & design courses have been moved from the main campus to a separate area in the city centre. This means that everything is brand new and the rooms are constantly decorated with new stuff. At graphic design we share a large room between the first-years, second-years and the third-years – which sometimes results in a very noisy and well populated area. The room is split into three sections, separated by a partition wall, and the temperature can get really low. Therefore it is okay that we only spend 4,5 hours a week at uni.
The employees are working on fixing what can be fixed, starting with building this shed to keep all the mess in. For some reason we also have a piano in the room, matching the shed. Except for this there are machines and appliances all over the place, and the room next door is our print room. In here we can do anything from screenprint to lasercutting and use the letterpress, the opportunities are almost unlimited!
Honestly, I don’t know how to use all the equipment, but I know that if I ask there is always someone willing to help me out. This is just a glimpse of the everyday life at Solent, which I find extremely different from NKF in Norway.
Så utruleg herleg!
