Byen vår, Southampton…

Southampton, eller Soton som den kalles, er ikke en alt for vakker industriby ved Englands kyst. Byen og jeg har et elsk - hat forhold som svinger på samme bølgelengde som været.

Bygningene er firkantet og laget av mur. Stort mer trengs ikke sies, det går mye i det samme når det gjelder arkitekturen her - ikke at jeg har stort peiling på det området uansett!

Vi har også gamle rester av muren som omringet byen på 1600-tallet i tillegg til et høyt nok kirkespir.

Gradene har endelig kommet seg over pluss 10 igjen, så i går sendte jeg mesteparten av ullen min tilbake til Norge. Whalehouse blir med en gang et sted man faktisk kan leve istedet for den igloen det er når kulden tar over utenfor.

Southampton er en fin by for eldre og gravide, og det minner meg ganske mye om Haugesund… Derfra har vi Svamp med "Tiramisu", som studentpresten sa (ikke ironisk). Soton kan by på mye av Titanic, Craig David, Jane Austen og ikke minst parker, med tanke på at det er Englands "grønneste by" som har flere parker enn noen annen i landet.

Southampton, aka Soton, is a not too beautiful, industrial town by England’s coast. The city and I has a love - hate relationship, changing just as much as the weather does. The buildings here are squared and mostly made of bricks. There isn’t much more to say about the architecture – not that I know anything about that area anyway!

We also have some old pieces of the town wall that surrounded the city as well as a tall enough church-spire. What I like most about this city is that it is always dry! Even if it can get both cold and windy here, the clouds never lay still for long enough to let some raindrops come out. 

The degrees have finally passed plus 10 again and therefore I sent most of my wool back to Norway yesterday. Whalehouse gets cosier the second the degrees increase, instead of being an igloo like most days.

Southampton is a great city for older- and pregnant people, and it reminds me of my hometown Haugesund… This city can offer a lot of Titanic, Craig David, Jane Austen and parks. It is the «greenest town» in England due to having more parks than any other in the country.
